The "Gran Taberna del Carmen" is located just behind tha Ayuntamiento de Granada (the Council building), which was formerly a convent of the Carmelitas in the seventeeth century. There is a very pleasant pedestrian walkway with three or four restaurants who have tables outside. It is a great place to just sit and watch the granadinos go by and of course an ideal place to wallow in the laid back ambience while enjoying good food.

Granada is not a very big city, about 250, 000. This restaurant is right in the centre and it is only a few minutes walk from many of the interesting places to be found in the centre such as the Cathedral, Bib Rambla, and the Coral de Carbón which aslo houses the tourist information office which is useful if you want to get information about things that are going on in Granada.
This restaurant has a wide range of tapas and raciones including "montaditos" In case you don't know a "montadito" is a piece of bread with something on top kept in place by a "palillo" (a type of cocktail stick)
When the weather is not so good you can eat inside in the spacious bar.

The average price per head is around 12 euros. This restaurant also has two other branches one in the plaza de toros (the bullring). and another in Plaza Nueva.
