The apartment is situated right in the heart of the Albaicín which is the old Arabic and most beautiful quarter of Granada (see photo above).

It is about 200 metres from the mirador de San Nicolas and a short walk away from all the the rest of the Albaicín.

There is a microbus service which passes the house every 10 minutes. It follows a continuous loop around the Albaicín so it is possible to reach the centre of town very easily.

What do our guests think about our flat?
This is the email we received from Liz.

It's been a long while, but I just wanted to say hello. I am just finishing putting together my photo albums of Spain and I wanted to thank you and your family for having me (June 30 - July 8). I absolutely fell in love with Granada and the Albaicyn and hope next time I come you will still be renting the flat-- I would love to stay with you again. You were such cordial, helpful, gracious, understanding hosts. What a dream Spain was for me. It seems eons ago but I still think about it every day. The flat was so much nicer than staying in a hostel or hotel. Thanks so much, again. Liz Gardner.

P.S. If you dine at Mirador de Aixa, have some chicken w/orange sauce for me. It was incredible!!

RESTAURANTS

All these restaurants are within easy walking distance of the apartment. You will get some idea of what the neighbourhood is like by looking at the photos.

La Cabina: The plaza San Miguel Bajo is about 12 minutes walk from the flat. The white houses with small balconies are typical of this area. Click here

El Trillo: If you take a winding walk around the Albayzín this is a good destination. There is a peaceful garden and you can usually eat outside. The food here is very good Click here

El Pañero: Stop here for a coffee or a caña on your way to Plaza Larga. A terrace bar about 15minutes walk. If you want to try some snails go to the bar next to this one. Click here

La Higuera. Pleasant restaurant bar with garden, fountain and flowers. Good music in the bar during the evening. Fairly cheap. There is a bar in front of this one called the Ladrillo which does plates of various fish with salad. This is our favorite restaurant in in the barrio, nothing special but good music and pleasant surroundings. Click here

Casa Juanillo: Just next to the Albayzín the the Sacromonte which is famous for its caves and Flamenco dancing. The same family who own the restaurant also run a flamenco cave where you can see Flamenco dancing. Click here Crowded on peak hours. Food is OK, very traditional Spanish. I had novillo which is "young bull" when I went there. Very good views from your table.

La Yedra. When you go up to the Alhambra stop in at the Yedra either before you go in or after you come out. It is in the road which is at the side of the car park. They have a cool terrace and Pepe and his sons will look after you well. They have good quality low price menus. This restaurant is good and we have eaten there several times. Just outside the restaurant you may be offered a sprig of Rosemary by a gypsy woman. If you don't want it just say "dejame en paz" (leave me alone) and even throw the sprigs of rosemary on the floor if necessary. But don't blame me if you have bad luck due to the curse they put on you. Click here

Restaurante Sevilla. When you go to see the Cathedal and stroll around the Bib Rambla. Stop in at the Restaurante Sevilla. This is a typical Spanish restuarant with a lengthy tradition and was one of the García Lorca's favourite restaurants. Sevilla

La Porrona Paella in Plaza Larga anyone? Click here

Los Jardines de Zoraya: Very pleasant garden. Very eclectic menu. Well worth a visit. Restaurant in the Albaicín
